Sterile hybrid (muskellunge x northern pike). Closed March 16 - April 30.
Stocked in select lakes and reservoirs. Prefer clear water with moderate vegetation. More aggressive than pure muskellunge. Found in various NY waters as stocked hybrid.
Active year-round except during closed season. More aggressive feeders than pure muskellunge. Do not reproduce naturally (sterile hybrid).
Distinctive tiger-like vertical stripes. Hybrid between muskellunge and northern pike. More prominent barring than pure muskie. Pointed tail lobes. Highly sought trophy fish.
